Independent UK journalism  ·  Updated daily
Reporting on the United Kingdom — politics and public life, football and cricket, music and television, technology, business, travel and food.

Who we are

HFlash is an independent digital news publication covering the United Kingdom. We report on national news, sport, entertainment, technology, business, travel, food and everyday life, with a focus on explaining why a story matters rather than simply announcing that it happened.

The publication exists for readers who want the substance of a story without wading through filler. Our articles are written to be read in full: they set out what has occurred, who is affected, what the credible evidence says, and what is likely to follow. Where a claim is contested, we say so plainly and point to the primary source so that readers can check it for themselves.

What we cover

Our newsroom is organised around eight desks. UK News handles national reporting, public policy, courts and transport. Sport covers football across the Premier League and the EFL, cricket, rugby union, Formula 1 and darts, with match reporting and analysis. Entertainment follows music, television, film and the touring business. Technology explains consumer software, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence for a general readership rather than a specialist one. Business looks at British enterprise, industry and practical guidance for firms. Lifestyle, Travel and Food round out the coverage with health, wellbeing, destinations and the culture of eating in Britain.

How we work

Every article published on HFlash is written for this publication. We link out to primary sources such as government departments, official statistics, governing bodies and established news organisations so that readers can trace a fact to its origin. We do not publish sponsored articles disguised as editorial, and we do not sell links or placements within our reporting. Our Editorial Policy sets out our sourcing and accuracy standards in full, and our Corrections page explains how we handle mistakes.

Editorial independence

Commercial activity is kept separate from editorial decision-making. Advertisers and commercial partners have no influence over which stories we cover or what we conclude, and no advance sight of editorial content. Where a commercial relationship is relevant to a story, we disclose it in the article itself. Details of what we do and do not accept are on our Advertise page.

Contact us

We welcome tips, corrections and reader feedback. You can reach the newsroom through our Contact page. If you believe we have published something inaccurate, please tell us: we would rather correct the record quickly and transparently than leave an error standing.
